Wine. It’s the stuff of life. More important than water, food, or air…
OK, maybe we’re exaggerating a little. But not much. What’s more vital to a good meal or tough day than a glass of wine? Empires and great works of art have been built on it, and in Middlesex and Mercer Counties you’re not limited to what you find at the bottle shop. Because New Jersey has some darn good wineries—really—and they’re just minutes from your apartment.
Hopewell Valley Vineyards
Click through and check out the pictures. Is that France? Nope. It’s Mercer County. Hopewell Valley Vineyards is one of NJ’s top destinations to learn about and experience wine. Locals (and critics) say the product here stands with the big labels!
Unionville’s tasting room is open 12pm-5pm every day. Ten bucks gets you eight mixed wine flights, and wine-friendly snacks are available. The vineyard is also a stunning location for weddings, parties, and other events.
This family farm in Middlesex County produces affordable, award-winning wines. What more could you ask for? Locals call it a must-stop as you head to the shore.
Working Dog Winery
Mercer County’s Working Dog Winery was founded over after-work drinks. Yes, in 2001 a group of wine lovers said to themselves, “Why can’t we do what we love?” It’s now one of New Jersey’s most prominent estate wineries, so come check out their passion!
